The need for training? Lift trucks are essential to almost any business needing to move palleted goods and bulk materials. The different types of trucks and attachments now available make them even more versatile and effective business tools.But experienced lift truck operators can find themselves in hazardous and potentially dangerous situations. Serious accidents can and do occur without proper training. Training is a legal requirement. The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) require employers to ensure that lift trucks are operated only by employees who have received appropriate training and assessment in accordance with the Code of Practice for lift trucks laid down by the Health and Safety Commission.










		LIFTS


		Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) Anyone wanting to operate lift trucks on a Major Contractors Plant site must hold a CPCS card. A Certificate in Specialised Plant and Machinery Operations is a mandatory requirement for a red 'trained operator' CPCS card, and to the NVQ in Specialised Plant and Machinery Operations; email for details.
